Why did I decide to write this blog? Why is my life and opinions important to other people? Spoiler: it's not.

Hello Blasian community of the world! I want to kick off this blog by providing an explanation as to why I am dedicating my time to write this blog and why I believe it's important to have a space like this on the internet.
First and foremost, I created this blog out of frustration. I'm sure many of you fellow Blasians have encountered the same feeling when googling your mix or searching for groups on Facebook and finding an unsatisfactory presence out on the web. The world is becoming increasingly integrated and it shows in our generation and increasingly more in the younger generations. This is why I want to do my part to grow the online presence of mixed people, specifically those identifying as Blasians, on the internet. It's easy to go on Instagram and faun over the beautiful mixed models, but it's another thing to have someone voice similar experiences to you in words.
This blog will start off as me posting occasionally, talking about my upbringing and issues/upsides I've encountered while navigating the world as a young Blasian woman. I am also writing this blog for myself, as a way to document who I am and what I have and want to grow to become. I feel that all I identify as - a woman, Black and Chinese, a Muslim - has played an enormous role in everything that has happened in my life from going to college to traveling the world, and I want to examine specifically what impact being Blasian in modern society has had and will continue to have in my life. This is how I want the blog to start off; me posting articles and casting myself into the internet's welcoming arms to attract people who relate to my experiences. I hope that over time people will comment and begin to post themselves so we can build a strong community of shared Blasian lives.
“It's important for us to band together to form a community and rejoice in the many beautiful blends we create and share our lifestyles and experiences no matter how similar or different.”
At the top of the article I clipped Wikitionary's description of 'Blasian'. As of now, Blasian is a fairly unique and small community, so much so that I shouldn't even use the word 'community' to describe the group of us. It's harder for us to pull together on a common thread as Blasian encompasses so many different races from Sri Lankan, Korean, African American, Chinese, Nigerian, Japanese, etc. But that's why it is important for us to band together to form a community and rejoice in the many beautiful blends we create and share our lifestyles and experiences no matter how similar or different.
Disclaimer; I write this blog directing my words to people identifying as being Blasian, but I am well aware of how the internet works and understand that people of all races and backgrounds will read this. In fact, I encourage everyone, whether you identify with one race or are another mix, to read and relate where you can and listen and learn from experiences or struggles I talk about that may be foreign to you. I encourage all readers to take something - anything - from what I'm sharing with you and that is enough to satisfy me.
Thank you all for reading my first post and I hope you stay tuned for the next one! I want to get this blog rolling and so I aim to post a new article once a week. If you like what you read or even disliked it or just want to tell me what crazy cool mix you are, comment below or shoot me a message directly with CONTACT. Thanks again!
